FIA F3 European Championship Attracts Global Attention

For hopeful young racing drivers, the FIA Formula 3 European Championship represents one of the most important steps on the way to professional motor racing. This group of young and ambitious drivers guarantees thrilling motor racing – a fact that is appreciated by the motor-racing enthusiasts on site and the TV audience in equal measure. Up to and including the seventh race meeting, at Spa-Francorchamps, 330,000 visitors witnessed the race action live on site, resulting in an average crowd of more than 47,000 visitors. With 123,000 spectators, the Norisring weekend attracted the biggest crowd, 65,000 motor-racing enthusiasts witnessed the F3 young guns racing at Spa-Francorchamps. And at the Hungaroring, a crowd of 43,000 spectators cheered for the FIA Formula 3 drivers.

In a total of 212 countries, the FIA Formula 3 European Championship already was covered in the early stages of the season. From April to July 2016, the coverage time amounted to more than 1,050 hours worldwide that were watched by a total audience of more than 95 million viewers. The total of 197 TV stations broadcasted nearly 3,500 shows dealing with the planet’s most competitive young-gun series. Eurosport, one of the most important partners of the FIA Formula 3 European Championship, attracted more than a million viewers in the aforementioned period of time with their exclusive Formula 3 magazine brought on Eurosport 1 and Eurosport 2.

In late July, the official Facebook page had 13,000 followers, the Twitter channel 9,000 – and more than 1,000 users followed the latest activities, news and information around the FIA Formula 3 European Championship on Instagram. In addition, these information and news also were made available at the official FIA Formula 3 European Championship website – in addition to all the race, qualifying and practice results, pictures, and videos. From November 2015 to July 2016, the website was visited by some 340,000 visitors that produced a total of 1.1 million clicks.

And last but not least, the print media still represent an important component of the media world – even in the digital era. From November 2015 to July 2016, reports and features about the FIA Formula 3 European Championship in the European core markets Austria, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland and the UK achieved a total print run of nearly 117 million.
