FIA Formula 3 European Champion to Race in Formula One

Once again, a young hopeful racing driver succeeded in achieving the goal every young gun is dreaming about: to get the chance of competing at the pinnacle of motor racing, in Formula One.

Lance Stroll, the Canadian who just turned 18 was signed by the tradition-rich Formula 1 team Williams Martini Racing for one of their two race seats. The young Canadian won the 2016 FIA European Formula 3 Championship title in superior style for Prema Powerteam, a partner of RAVENOL. Since the beginning of 2016, the team and the lubricant manufacturer have closely been collaborating when it comes to technology solutions in the single-seater area. When the Australian GP will kick off the 2017 Formula One season, Lance Stroll will be the second-youngest F1 driver to ever race. The youngest driver in the history of the sport remains Max Verstappen, the former member of the Red Bull young-driver support programme who was 17 when he contested his first Formula One race for the Scuderia Toro Rosso.

Both drivers, Verstappen and Stroll, advanced to F1 right from a European Formula 3 series (FIA Formula 3 European Championship). For young hopeful drivers, the FIA Formula 3 European Championship represents one of the most important steps on their way to professional motor racing. This young-driver series provides the young talents an extremely professional environment that is regarded as a great talent pool and helps the young guns to perfectly learn their trade.

Since the beginning of 2016, RAVENOL is not only 'Official Lubricant and Car Care Product Partner' of the FIA F3 European Championship but at the same time, the motor-racing lubricants  RAVENOL RSS 10W-60 (engine) and RAVENOL Racing Gearoil (gearbox) as well as the brake fluid RAVENOL Racing Brake Fluid R325+ were officially incorporated into the FIA Formula 3 European Championship regulations, allowing the teams on the grid of the series to use these products while racing for points and race wins.
