Premiere of the Audi Sport TT Cup in the Nüburgring 24h-Race Support Program

The Audi Sport TT Cup is very popular and for the first time in its history, the Audi makes cup was part of the support program of the endurance classic Nürburgring 24h Race that was won by team Black Falcon. On the spectacular final race lap, the AMG-Team Black Falcon vehicle driven by Maro Engel passed AMG-Team HTP-Motorsport, which RAVENOL is cooperating with as exclusive lubricant partner. RAVENOL is also the official lubricant partner of the Audi Sport TT Cup that features a car decorated with the special 'RAVENOL 70 Years' logo and raced by Nicklas Nielsen on the grid.

Despite a great start to the weekend (the quickest in the practice session) and a promising third place in the qualifying session, the Dane failed to make it to the podium. In the first race, Dennis Marshall (DE) celebrated a lights-to-flag win and in the second race on Saturday morning, South Africa’s Sheldon van der Linde outpaced the entire field and took the checkered flag.

Nicklas Nielsen is regarded as an instinct racer. The 19-year old has already battled it out with Max Verstappen, today’s rising Formula One star, in national and international karting. He's won the WSK Super Master Series KF, the WSK Champions KF, and WSK Final Cup KF. Danish drivers and Audi represent a combination with the potential to succeed. Tom Kristensen, the record breaking nine-time Le Mans winner also raced for the brand with the four rings and secured seven of his nine wins in the race that annually is held by the Automobile Club de l`Ouest (ACO) with Audi vehicles. Kristensen who also raced in DTM for Team Abt Sportsline from 2004 to 2011, is a role model for many young racing drivers. So, it comes as no surprise that Nicklas Nielsen has also set himself the goal to successfully contest the Le Mans 24h Race. The majority of the still young drivers on the grid of the Audi makes cup regards the series as stepping stone to professional ranks of motor racing.

The concept of the Audi Sport TT Cup race series is based on the Audi TT production cars with devices and components that always meet the production standard. This also applies to the lubricants used. Because of this, quattro GmbH as organiser of the Audi Sport TT Cup opted for RAVENOL.

Following the thrilling premiere of the Audi Sport TT Cup in the Nürburgring 24h-Race support programme, young talent Nicklas Nielsen who was born in Silkeborg (DK) holds the promising fifth position in the championship, close behind the front runners. In the third race meeting of the still young season, from the 24th to the 26th of June, the Audi Sport TT Cup drivers will have to prove their skills at Nuremberg’s Norisring in the support program of the fourth DTM weekend of the 2016 season.
