RAVENOL the New Technology Partner of the AUDI Sport TT Cup

From 2016, the Audi Sport TT Cup will rely on RAVENOL lubricants. Ravensberger Schmierstoffvertrieb GmbH, a well known name in international motor racing for many years, will cooperate with the AUDI makes cup as technology partner and official lubricant supplier. The cup is about to start its second season and can look back on a truly successful debut year. An agreement regarding the new cooperation was signed by RAVENOL and Audi Sport TT Cup.

The seven Audi Sport TT Cup race meetings are all held in the support program of German Touring Car Masters (DTM) events and the ADAC Zurich 24-Hour Race (Nürburgring). The Audi Sport TT Cup grid will feature a total of 24 cars that will be centrally prepared and ran by the quattro GmbH. 16 regulars from all over the world will battle it out with one another (a total of 125 young drivers from 36 countries applied for the 2016 Audi Sport TT Cup race seats). Up to eight cockpits will be assigned race by race to other guest drivers. Two 30-minute races will be held per weekend.

The new Audi TT is equipped with a turbocharged 2.0 TFSI in-line four-cylinder petrol engine with direct fuel injection that delivers 228kW (310bhp) and is listed under the engine code CJX 035244 (fuel consumption 7,3 – 4,2 l/100km; CO2 emissions combined 169 – 110 g/km).

This engine, based on the EA888, belongs to the engine family comprising CJXE (265bhp), CJXA (280bhp), CJXH (290bhp) as well as CJXC (300bhp) and is used in the performance-optimised version of the Mk7 VW Golf GTI ‘Clubsport’, the Mk7 VW Golf R, the VW Golf R400, the SEAT Leon III Cupra, and the Škoda Superb.

The concept of the Audi Sport TT Cup motor-racing series is based on Audi TT vehicles that always will be equipped with production spec units and components. And the same applies to the lubricants used in the series. Over the course of the 2015 season, the RAVENOL lubricants suiting the race series were compared with the oils and other operating fluids used to date and also were examined according to the necessary specifications. One of the crucial factors: an official VW-Group approval already was available. Furthermore, RAVENOL has been a supplier of Audi customer teams for many years. For instance, RAVENOL lubricants have been used successfully for many years in Audi R8 LMS vehicles.

quattro GmbH as organiser of the Audi Sport TT Cup, opted for cooperating with RAVENOL

Consequently, the lubricants are part of the Audi Motorsport Spare Parts Catalogue. The oil used is RAVENOL VMP 5W-30. The vehicle features a standard gearshift dual-clutch gearbox DSG DQ-250 in the MQB spec. This six-speed gearbox with factory identification VW 0D9 is an enhancement of the proven DSG 02E gearbox. Here, the RAVENOL DCT/DSG gearbox fluid is used. The hydraulic dual-circuit brake system with adjustable brake-power will work with RAVENOL Racing Brake Fluid R325+. While RAVENOL LGC Lobrid Glycerin Coolant HOT CLIMATE -15°C, based on monoethylene glycol, ensures maintenance free corrosion and antifreeze protection.

“I’m truly delighted with having the chance of cooperating with such a significant makes cup as Audi’s as this means that our lubricants now also will be used in the Audi Sport TT Cup”, said Martin Huning, Director of Motorsport at RAVENOL. These lubricants that have been used in production cars were designed and developed to deliver in both motor racing and in day-to-day traffic, so they can easily be used in these vehicles. This means another direct link between motor racing and the day-to-day use for our RAVENOL products. In addition, the series is integrated in one of Germany’s most highly assessed event packages and is very popular in it's own right. In addition to the presentation of RAVENOL as series partner on every Audi Sport TT Cup racing car, one vehicle of the series will be particularly branded. On its sides it will wear the RAVENOL logo that is very well known in the motor racing world today, and the hood will be decorated with the special 'RAVENOL 70 years' logo as a hint to this year’s company anniversary.
