Since 2004, Ravensberger Schmierstoffvertrieb GmbH (RAVENOL) has the goal of setting the standard in lubrication for racing and motorsport, the RAVENOL brand has become firmly established in numerous motorsport disciplines. After initially entering the national touring car series, the fields of activity have steadily increased over the years to the point where RAVENOL is now the Technical Partner to both teams and series in a wide variety of motorsport categories from automotive to motorcycle and even power boat racing.

RAVENOL Racing Oils enjoy a very high respect throughout the motorsport industry, largely due to the fact that RAVENOL works together directly with manufacturers in the area of engine and gearing technology. This guarantees a constant high quality standard for the RAVENOL lubricants used in motor sport. Large numbers of competitors in international Touring Car and Sports Car series are successfully using RAVENOL Racing Products. Ongoing technical support is provided to several single seater series, in particular the FIA Formula 3 Championship, where RAVENOL is the 'Official Lubricant and Car Care Product Partner'.

Since the beginning of 2012 RAVENOL has further extended its activities to the UK – the “Home of Motorsport” and is a technical partner to both the British Rally Championship and the BMW Compact Cup. Individual teams in British Rallying, including the front-running Pirelli BRC team, Historic Rallying, Drag Racing and the fast growing Time Attack Series also benefit from technical, product and financial support.

RAVENOL is also active as a partner of various rally sport racing teams and racing series. Their commitment ranges from national rally sport to the World Rally Championship (WRC). RAVENOL has been working together with Volland Racing in the FIA Rallyecross Championship for many years.

Furthermore, RAVENOL has been, and is currently involved in a variety of popular Sports and GT events, such as the ADAC GT Masters, where RAVENOL recently became the official lubricants partner of the Super Sports Car League. Additionaly RAVENOL is involved in the Blancpain GT Series, the GT4 European Championship and the 24h Le Mans race. Teams like Rosberg, Young Driver Aston Martin Racing, Farnbacher Racing and C.ABT Racing have all been RAVENOL partners over the past few years.

In 2013 RAVENOL signed a new international racing agreement with Bamboo Engineering for WTCC. The FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) is an international Touring Car championship sanctioned by the FIA.

Formula cars symbolize the concept of a racing car par excellence, and in this category RAVENOL is represented from the lowest junior classes to the highest racing classes, right up to the legendary Formula 1 itself. RAVENOL was also a long-standing standard partner of the German Formula 3 ATS Cup. RAVENOL supports several racing teams in ADAC Formula 4. In addition, they are a long-standing partner of Neuhauser Racing and partner teams such as Motopark Academy and Van Amersfoort Racing. Both teams also participate in the FIA Formula 3 European Championship series, of which RAVENOL is an official lubricant partner. In addition, RAVENOL and Hilmer Motorsport agreed to a cooperation deal in 2015. Hilmer is the official GP2 partner of the Sahara Force India team within the scope of Formula 1 events. And since 2018, RAVENOL has been the Official Lubricants Partner of the Sahara Force India F1 Team.

In the motorcycle world championship (Moto3), RAVENOL supports Racing Team Germany and is also represented in the general popular motorcycle sport, as well as in motocross, as a technical supplier.

Hockenheimring

In 2014, RAVENOL became a partner of the Hockenheim-Ring GmbH. The first curve after the start and finish line is now known as the "RAVENOL Curve". In addition, at the center of the Formula 1 circuit on the roof of the Start/Finish building, now known as the RAVENOL House, is an impressive 13 m high RAVENOL oil can that weighs some 5.8 tons and has a theoretical capacity of 190,000 liters, which will dominate the skyline of the Hockenheimring for many years to come.

Since June 2015, RAVENOL has been an exclusive technical premium partner of Opel Motorsport in the area of lubricants. This partnership comprises national and international rallying (Opel Adam) as well as touring-car racing where Opel is involved with the Opel Astra in both the TCR International Series and the ADAC TCR Germany. 

Another exciting area is the cooperation with two teams in the FIA World Endurance Championship, WEC. At the pinnacle of endurance racing, the LMP1 category, RAVENOL cooperates with ByKOLLES Racing. And the highlight on the WEC calendar remains the motor-racing classic par excellence: the Le Mans 24-Hour Race. 

With the start into the 2016 season, Ravensberger Schmierstoffvertrieb GmbH became official lubricant partner of the ADAC GT Masters and the ‘Spezial Tourenwagen Trophy’ that partly is contesting its races in the popular ADAC GT Masters event package. 

The AUDI Sport TT Cup also will rely on the quality lubricants ‘Made in Germany’. RAVENOL is technology partner and official supplier of the sports-car series that was created by Audi in 2015.

In addition to the use of the specially designed and developed premium products of the lubricant manufacturer and an extensive exchange of information, the cooperation also includes planned customer activities at the pinnacle of endurance racing.

Formerly known as Lotus LMP, ByKOLLES Racing have been in involved in motor racing for 15 years, now, and can look back on a truly successful history in WEC, DTM, Formula One and other single seat series. With a new front-wheel suspension, aerodynamic modifications and several other upgrades – all within the limits set by the regulations – the team just succeeded in achieving a crucial performance boost while enhancing their endurance racer, CLM P1/01.

Toyota Motorsport - TMG GT 86 Cup

From 2017, Ravensberger Schmierstoffvertrieb GmbH/ RAVENOL is the exclusive partner of the TMG GT86 Cup that is held within the framework of the Endurance Championship Nürburgring, VLN, as makes cup of Toyota Motorsport GmbH, TMG.

All the vehicles competing in the series will be equipped with lubricants from Werther and are made available for the competitors as part of a spare-part list. The performance and aerodynamics of the racing car once again were enhanced for the 2017 season and nonetheless, it remains a perfect tool for cost-efficient customer motor-racing.  The engine is at 200bhp two-litre flat engine, with the power being transferred by a manual six-speed gearbox. Ravensberger Schmierstoffvertrieb GmbH complied with its technical assignment by subjecting its products to a performance upgrade according to the Toyota Motorsport GmbH specification – to be able to provide the TMG GT 86 costumers with perfectly adapted lubricants: the modified RAVENOL RRS 5W-50 for the engine and RAVENOL VSG 75W-90 respectively RAVENOL SGO 80W-140 for gearbox and differential.

Chevrolet Cruze Eurocup

The CHEVROLET Cruze Eurocup relies on RAVENOL products! The ingredients for the successful series are the low costs on the one hand and the colorful mix of ambitious young guns who advanced to the series from karting and other forms of highly motivated racers.

The CHEVROLET racers do not only look good but also are fun to drive. Thanks to this mix, thrilling races are guaranteed – a fact that could be witnessed at top-class circuits such as the Hungaroring, Red Bull Ring, Autodrom Most, Slovakiaring and the Autodrom Brno.

When it comes to the technology, the makes cup relies on the RAVENOL high-performance products. The engine, for instance, successfully is lubricated by RAVENOL’s engine oil RAVENOL RSS SAE 10W-60 that makes for longevity of the GM engines that are taken to their very limits, in the races.

The RAVENOL Racing Gearoil is used in the five-speed gearbox and improved the durableness of the synchroniser rings and made for easier gear changes.

Phoenix Racing was founded in 1999 by Ernst Moser who began his motor-racing career as motorbike racer but soon, the born Swabian switched behind the pit wall to work as mechanic, engineer, and Technical Director and to car racing in the touring-car and sports-car areas. Following the debut season in the German Super Touring Car Championship, STW, back in 1999, Phoenix Racing switched to DTM – at first with Opel and from 2005 with Audi – and to GT racing. Furthermore, the long and successful Phoenix Racing history also featured makes-cup involvements such as in the Porsche Carrera Cup and appearances in marathon rallies such as the Dakar. Among the squad’s outstanding successes are the win of two DTM drivers’ championships and one DTM team title, four Nürburgring 24h-Race overall wins, two wins in the Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium) 24h-Race as well as a win in the 12h Race in Bathurst, Australia.

In addition to DTM as Audi works team, the highly motivated team based at the Nürburgring plans to compete in 2016 – with the Audi R8 LMS – in the Blancpain Endurance Series, the Blancpain Sprint Series, the VLN, Endurance Championship Nürburgring, the Nürburgring 24h Race, the Spa-Franchorchamps 24h race and the Bathurst 12h Race and in addition, the team has established new subsidiaries in Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur as Phoenix Racing Asia to also race in Asian GT series.

FIA Formula 3 European Championship

Henceforth, the lubricant manufacturer from Eastern-Westfalia may refer to itself as the ‘Official Lubricant and Car Care Product Partner’ of the FIA Formula 3 European Championship.

In 2013, the first year of the revived FIA Formula 3 European Championship, Ravensberger Schmierstoffvertrieb GmbH, was already involved with its trademark RAVENOL as the presenter of the live stream and the technical partner of the Van Amersfoort Racing team. From the very beginning, RAVENOL’s competition manager Martin Huning acknowledged the potential and the international prestige of the FIA Formula 3 European Championship, so that the company became involved as an official partner of the top-level junior race series from 2014. Now, the next step follows for 2016: from this year, RAVENOL will not only have the title ‘Official Lubricant and Car Care Product Partner’ of the FIA Formula 3 European Championship, but the competition lubricants RAVENOL RSS 10W-60 (engine) and RAVENOL Racing Gearoil (gearbox), plus the brake fluid RAVENOL Racing Brake Fluid R325+ were officially included into the FIA Formula 3 European Championship regulations, allowing the teams to use these products in competition. Moreover, the eye-catching blue-and-yellow RAVENOL logo will adorn the upper engine cover of all Formula 3 cars, the drivers’ suits, the podium and the sponsor backdrop.

Prüstel GP

Team Prüstel GP from Callenberg that is competing in the MotoGP 3 category with a professional crew also is a part of this motor-biking world. Molitor-Racing-Systems (MRS Racing)

German lubricant manufacturer RAVENOL and Team MRS GT Racing have agreed upon a technology partnership for the GT area of the Lonsee, Germany based motor-racing team. Team MRS relies on the high-performance lubricants provided by the Ravensberg based manufacturer in both the BMW M6 GT3 competing in the ADAC GT Masters and the Porsche 991 Cup vehicles in the Hankook 24h Series. In addition to the high-quality engine oils, RAVENOL also supplies the team with other products such as gearbox oil and brake fluid.

For 25 years, now, Molitor-Racing-Systems GmbH has been competing under the name MRS GT Racing, in the most significant sports- and touring-car series. Apart from the involvement in international GT series the team also made a name for itself in the 24h series. Furthermore, MRS is contesting with several vehicles the international Porsche makes cups, such as the Porsche Carrera-Cup Germany or the Porsche MOBIL1 Supercup. In about six race series, the team runs a total of 12 racing cars in some 36 events. This means that the Swabian independent team is one of the most active ones in Europe. Since 2001, the team is based with its own workshop in Lonsee, not far from Ulm. The faith of the team and its permanent employees has been managed from the very beginning by Iris Dorr and Karsten Molitor.

Nürburgring

Since mid-2016, the Nürburgring has had the ‘RAVENOL-Kurve’. RAVENOL is the technical partner of the Nürburgring and lubricant partner of the Nürburgring Driving Academy. Furthermore, RAVENOL also is involved as official lubricant partner of the legendary ADAC Zurich Nürburgring 24h Race held at the tradition-rich Eifel circuit.  

Opel Motorsport

The partnership between Opel Motorsport and RAVENOL, that extends from Opel‘s circuit engagement in the Astra OPC Cup in the Nürburgring VLN Long-distance Championship to the famous north loop of the Nürburgring, is planned for the middle-term. Of course, Opel Motorsport’s race cars will be provided with RAVENOL‘s high quality lubricant straight away. Opel and RAVENOL’s synergies will also be merged for the technical development of Opel race cars and they will strive for optimal tailor-made solutions for motor, gear and hydraulic oils.
