Phoenix Racing Asia Unlucky in Macau
The appearance of Team Phoenix Racing Asia in this year’s FIA GT World Cup Grand Prix in Macau was less than lucky.
From 1954, the Guia circuit, located in the Chinese special administrative region Macau, not far from Hong Kong, has been staging the Macau GP. The diversified motor-sport event provides the crowds single-seater, touring-car and sports-car racing as well as motorbike racing.
Phoenix Racing Asia contested the event with an Audi R8 LMS in the GT3 category. The Phoenix Audi is powered by a naturally aspirated 5.2-litre V10 producing a massive 585bhp! The 40-valve engine is perfectly lubricated with the racing oil RAVENOL RSS SAE 10W-60, tailor-made for top-class racing.
The team based in the Eifel region was represented by DTM driver Nico Mueller and Marchy Lee (Audi Hong Kong), the first Audi R8 LMS Cup Champion in 2012. With his Audi R8 LMS, Marchy Lee finished 12th in the qualifying race, and 19th in the feature race. Meanwhile, Nico Müller was turned around by another car on lap one of the qualifying race and on lap two he crashed and was forced into retirement. Müller survived the incident unharmed but couldn’t contest the feature race as repairing his massively damaged car in time proved to be impossible.
