DLC 2016 - Class Win in the Legendary Hockenheim 1000 Kilometer Race
On Easter Saturday, the German Endurance Cup, DLC,
kicked off with the Hockenheimring 1000 kilometer race that also was contested
by Team WSB-Endurance.
The DLC calendar features six events that will be held at different venues and are real endurance races (500km, 1,000km and 6h race). On bikes modified according to the Superbike regulations, such as the BMW S 1000 RR, Yamaha YZF-R1, Kawasaki ZX-10R or Honda CBR 1000 RR, the teams and drivers really went for it, on the tradition-rich 4.574-kilometre racetrack.
Sascha Müller, Danny Märtz and Dirk Walter contested the race on a Kawasaki ZX-10R in class 4 and represented the WSB-Endurance-Team colors.
The superbike-category Kawasaki ZX-10R was launched in 2004 as successor of the Kawasaki ZX-7R and has been re-launched several times since then. The superbike, also known under the name ‘Ninja’, convinces with a horsepower output of 200bhp. The ECU of the Kawasaki ZX-10R, generation 2015, consists of a control unit and a KRT-kit cable loom and in addition, the bike also features a KRT-kit gearbox. At the same time, the premium engine oil RAVENOL Motorbike 4-T Ester SAE 10W-60 provides optimum lubrication of the engine. This oil makes for a fast flow rate and appropriate lubrication of the engine, helps to save fuel and prevents oil-caused buildup in the combustion chambers, the piston-ring area and on the valves. The suspension of the bike consists of an Öhlins FGR300 gas-pressure fork with modified triple-tree seats as well as a rear-wheel swing arm with hand made quick-change units and an Öhlins TTX suspension strut. An LSL footrest system and the Lohmann gear-shift automat ad to the high level of functionality. Suiting the high-efficiency brake system, consisting of Beringer 4 piston endurance brake calipers (with Stäubli quick fasteners at the front) the high-performance brake fluid RAVENOL Racing Brake Fluid R325+ guarantees safe braking characteristics, particularly in extraordinary hot and tropical conditions – the ideal motor-racing brake fluid for both cars and motorbikes. In addition, the forks are perfectly protected by RAVENOL Fork Oil Medium 10W.
Team WSB-Endurance started into the qualifying session perfectly prepared by the RAVENOL motor-racing products. All three drivers had just a few laps for familiarizing themselves with the track that is decorated by the 13 meter high oil can featuring the RAVENOL look at the start / finish building in imposing style. In the feature race, the first round of the DMSB’s DLC, Team WSB-Endurance secured an outstanding result, thus being rewarded for the hard work in the preparation period. In the end, the team finished sixth in the overall rankings and battled its way back up to the lead in class 4 (three drivers / one bike). After the race, the team praised its mechanics crew, helpers, drivers and supporters on site for the great effort. With their sensational result, Team WSB-Endurance also took the lead in class 4 of the German Endurance Cup, DLC.
On 09th & 10th April, the Motorsportarena Oschersleben staged the six-hour race and WSB-Endurance finished third in the DLC 4 category. The next event on the calendar, the 1,000-kilometre race at Most, Czech Republic, will be held on 16th May.
