Team EKS and RAVENOL Establish New Partnership

Mattias Ekström Wins World Rallycross Championship Round at Hockenheim – RAVENOL the Team's New Partner

What a start to the new technology partnership between Team EKS around DTM ace Mattias Eklström and RAVENOL.

The likeable Swede prevailed in the final of the World Rallycross Championship (WRX) round at Hockenheim. The racing on the track featuring a mix of tarmac and gravel often is extremely close and thrilling with many close encounters and Ekström won with his EKS Audi team-mate Toomas Heikkinen finishing second in the event held in Hockenheim’s stadium section in front of 78,500 spectators. Lubricant partner of the Stockholm based team is RAVENOL. The technical partnership with TEAM EKS in the World Rallycross Championship is a logical addition to the cooperation with the Audi Motorsport Audi Sport TT Cup and the involvement in the ADAC GT Masters and the VLN with Team Phoenix Racing Audi R8 LMS racers.

Concise profile of the two Scandinavian EKS drivers:

  • Sweden’s Mattias Ekström (37): two-time DTM-Champion
  • Finland’s Toomas Heikkinen (25): Runner-up 2 in the 2014 FIA World RX

It may be taken for granted that both drivers will feel a lot of thrust in their cars. The Audi S1 EKS RX quattro is equipped with a turbocharged 560 bhp two-liter engine that is lubricated with  RAVENOL RRS 5W-50. This oil is a special oil for motor racing and delivers even in difficult conditions such as in the World Rallycross Championship. The special composition of this multi-viscosity oil based on a basis of esters and poly-alpha-olefins makes for an outstanding viscosity behavior, accompanied by very good dispersing characteristics. Furthermore, the all-wheel-drive Audi that fits into the supercar category uses the RAVENOL Racing Gearoil in its sequential six-speed gearbox. In the case of ongoing engine stresses as usually are witnessed in motor racing, the coolant RAVENOL LGC-Protect C13 Concentrate reliably protects engine and radiator against overheating while providing maintenance free corrosion and anti-freeze protection in cooling circuits at the same time. The radiator protection concentrate that is filled into the cooling circuit in the appropriate mix ratio has been created on a basis of 1.2 ethanediol (monoethyle-glykol) and an addition of 20 percent glycerin.

With its truly impressive acceleration from 0 to 100kph in 1.9 seconds, the motor-racing version of the compact car from Ingolstadt must be a shock in the rear-view mirror of every single opponent. And following his triumph at Hockenheim, the charismatic Swede looks forward to a successful WRX season. The next World Championship round is about to take place as the Circuit Jules Tacheny (Belgium) opens its gates on the 13th to invite teams, drivers, and fans to another weekend of spectacular motor racing. Incidentally, last year, the race at the circuit at Mettet was won by Ekström’s team-mate Toomas "Topi" Heikkinen.
